Nick Turner

Technology Innovator and Entertainment Marketer

A technology innovator and entertainment marketer since 1994, when he produced the first ever live video concert by a band on the Internet, and developed one of the earliest music websites, Rocktropolis, Turner has wide ranging experience in all aspects of the music and entertainment industry, online and traditional marketing, and the application of new technologies that allow marketers and brands to leverage the digital economy!

His most recent tenure as Founder in Residence at Google's Area 120 allowed him to build innovative products; mixing Google's proprietary data with his real world experience and contacts to bring significant value to Google, and Google's largest entertainment clients and customers.

He has spoken at numerous media and technology conferences, including Mashable, 'Produced By', Vidcon and Pollstar conferences.

Prior to Google, from 2012 to 2018, Turner was the Co-Founder of an OTT, (On Demand Television) programming and distribution company, TV4 Entertainment, which had distribution partnerships with Hulu, Amazon, Roku, and others.

Until early 2012, he was Senior Vice President of Digital Media at Relativity Media, that produced movies including The Social Network, The Fighter, Immortals, Limitless, Mamma Mia, The 300 and others, where he oversaw a team dedicated to building sustainable online platforms, and created opportunities that redefined the way movies are marketed and distributed,

He was a SVP of Business Development and Artist Acquisition at Live Nation, the world’s largest concert promoter, and also consulted with Vevo, overseeing much of the marketing, branding and programming for its successful launch.

He also worked at ARTISTdirect, a pioneering music company, where he signed and oversaw digital channels for the World’s largest artists and previously worked closely with maverick artist manager Miles Copeland, the manager of Sting and The Police, among others, and the founder of IRS records.

Prior to being involved in technology, he was a successful touring and recording musician, a music manager and record company executive. Most notably, he was the drummer for the London based surf punk, garage band, The Barracudas, and 80’s punk super-group' and early MTV favorites, The Lords Of The New Church. He was also the first drummer, as a teenager, for The Raincoats, a British, post punk band formed in 1977 that were reputedly Kurt Cobain’s favorite band.
