His journey has been tumultuous yet transformative. Joveth's migration from Sweden to the US marked not just a physical relocation, but a profound shift in artistic mentality. Wrestling with personal trauma, he dove deep into California's underground music scene, seeking solace as well as creative liberation. He found fertile ground to explore and refine his musical identity.
Through relentless experimentation across R&B, pop, EDM, rock, and soul genres, all of which inform his new EP “Lonely Boy” on Voracious Records, Joveth has melded a sound that uses those genres to express his inner turmoil and resulting creative resilience. Where he landed was as much a musical achievement as one of personal growth and newfound artistic clarity. Other influences include Jon Bellion, Drake, Post Malone, Michael Jackson, and The Weeknd.
From the intimacy of small clubs to expansive stages, Joveth's shows are immersive experiences of raw energy augmented with his own sound and lighting design. He says, “The effects and atmospherics I create are what I hear and see in my head, and I’m happy I’m able to recreate it when I produce, mix and perform my songs.”
In 2022, Toto’s David Paich saw potential in Joveth and helped him with an early song. Joveth has also worked with Biby Bourelley, learning a lot from her way of writing and creating songs. He’s performed extensively in SoCal.
He applies all the skills learned running a recording studio and works tirelessly to become known as a legit pop star with an important message. A perfectionist by nature, he feels his time has finally come to be seen. Joveth is relentlessly driven, and for him there’s no other path than music. The amount of work, sweat and tears I had to go through brought me to where I am today mentally, personally and musically.”
As to his process and the new EP “Lonely Boy”, Joveth says:
“Working as a sound engineer for years has allowed me to be creative with recording techniques, both in and out of “the box”. You’ll definitely hear leanings towards genres like trap music and hip-hop, but also purely organic sounds and harmonies. And I love distortion and synths in my sound! It gives it a hint of edginess - similar to how I am as a person - and how I perform. I also love layering instruments and vocals. I learned a lot of these techniques in Sweden working with a well-known producer. And the sound of my voice has its own identity and I worked really hard on finding that. It took me years to finally be able to say ‘that’s my sound. The first single, Say My Name is about finding out who we really are and being unafraid to say it.”
About his overall philosophy for life and music: "I’m all about sending good vibes at the end of the day. I support my community and whatever feels right to do. When it comes to creative choices, I can’t really say any genre I don't like. I’m in love with music, so I guess whatever sounds like ‘spirit’ to me, I understand, and I’m open and adaptable to art from others’ viewpoints.
As he continues to push boundaries and redefine genres, Joveth is a beacon of authenticity in a music industry often dominated by trends. He embodies the spirit of artistic integrity and emotional honesty. He has the ethos of a true artist - undaunted by adversity, driven by creativity, and forever evolving in the pursuit of his own musical truth.
Outside of music Joveth is equally committed to serving community. During the pandemic he worked in a homeless shelter as a kitchen manager. He saw a way to re-invent their entire culinary program, including teaching the clients how to become line cooks, and was recognized for creating a blueprint for the shelter to copy in other shelters. In life he strives to create positive change as well as musical inspiration. In addition to all his other skills he still paints, designs his own cover art and live show graphics, and is tri-lingual. And he’s a wicked cook!
About Joveth, his label Voracious Records says:
“We saw the raw energy and potential of Joveth on social media and were following him with interest. A friend of many years, the head of Santa Barbara Sound Design, Dom Camardella, mentioned over dinner that he had an artist he was working with whom he felt was worthy of label support. He urged us to stop by that night for a visit, and to our surprise and good fortune, there was Joveth – whom Dom was mentoring. It was the kind of coincidence that felt more like fate. Over the course of the next several months a strategy for launch was developed. What we didn’t know at the time was just how special Joveth is – as a creator, as a survivor, most but importantly, as a human being with immense drive and integrity. As an artist, he checks all the boxes a label could possibly want. We’re honored to know him.”
