Gem & Jam Partners with Green Disco to Improve Sustainability Efforts

Gem & Jam has become synonymous with pushing musical boundaries, blending genres, and delivering unforgettable performances. This year, the annual extravaganza of eclectic music, vibrant art, and stunning desert landscapes will return to the scenic desert landscapes of Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson, Arizona from February 2-4th, 2024 this time expanding upon their sustainability initiatives.

This year’s Gem & Jam comes with an even greater focus on sustainability through its partnership with the environmental festival organization, Green Disco. Green Disco creates customizable climate programs that benefit the environment, improve fan experiences, and drive new revenue. Building upon the success of their collaboration in 2023, the festival is taking bold strides toward minimizing its ecological footprint and contributing to local environmental initiatives. In 2023, Green Disco introduced Eco-Bands, a 100% hemp, optional ticket add-on that enabled festival-goers to offset their carbon footprint. Through this initiative, over 300,000 lbs of CO2e were successfully removed from the atmosphere, tracked via the platform Pachama which uses satellite data and AI to help companies confidently invest in high-quality carbon credits.

Expanding on the success of the Eco-Band program, Gem & Jam and Green Disco are ramping up their efforts in 2024. This year, Eco-Bands will continue to support the Million Trees Project, a global initiative aimed at combating deforestation and climate change. Additionally, the festival is collaborating with Tucson Clean & Beautiful, a local organization dedicated to enhancing the beauty and sustainability of the community. The goal for 2024 is commendable and ambitious: the planting of 500 trees in the local Tucson area. By choosing the Eco-Band option, festival attendees actively contribute to a positive environmental legacy, fostering a sense of responsibility for the impact of their collective presence. This type of partnership is essential for combatting the environmental overwhelm that many communities face when choosing to host a large-scale event. What’s more, guests who choose to participate will receive a 10% discount on event merchandise.

Once guests arrive, they can expect to be taken on a genre-bending auditory journey, with music from the likes of Disco Biscuits, Of The Trees, Boogie T, Lettuce, Spafford, LP Giobbi, Daily Bread, and so much more.
