Josh Ross
Co-founder and Co-CEO of Humanitix
Josh Ross is the co-founder and co-CEO of Humanitix, the world's first not-for-profit ticketing platform that donates 100% of its booking fee profits to charity. A CFA charterholder and former hedge fund analyst, Josh walked away from a partnership offer at one of Sydney's leading hedge funds at 26 to build something that better aligned with his values: a ticketing platform that could compete on product quality, not guilt.
Teaming up with his best friend, Adam McCurdie, he founded Humanitix on a simple but radical idea: take the booking fees we all hate paying and direct them to the world's most disadvantaged children. Since launching, Humanitix has directed over $13 million USD to children's health and education causes across Australia, New Zealand, the US, the UK, and Canada — funding indigenous scholarships, literacy programs for young girls, and improved accessibility at live events. Boston Consulting Group estimates it is on track to become the world's first Social Unicorn.
Today, Humanitix powers hundreds of thousands of events globally, with offices across Australia, New Zealand, North America, and the UK. Hollywood icon Hugh Jackman has joined the team as Head of Impact and brand ambassador. Josh believes the live events industry is uniquely positioned to drive extraordinary social good, and that the infrastructure powering ticketing can be quietly rewired so every ticket sold becomes a force for change.
Josh was named Social Entrepreneur of the Year in Australia (2018), received the New South Wales Premier's Medal, and won the Google Impact Challenge. He has dedicated his life to closing the global education gap, which he sees as the core driver of intergenerational poverty.
