Michael Huth

On Tour Manager at Wild & Scenic Film Festival

Michael spent a decade in Los Angeles working as a talent agent, business affairs manager, and line producer. After enough time in the mountains, he felt called to transition his skill set toward mission-driven nonprofits and impact-focused media. He now manages the national tour for the Wild & Scenic Film Festival, one of the country’s leading environmental film festivals. The WSFF tour team produces more than 130 annual events nationwide, supporting over 100 nonprofit environmental organizations and helping them collectively raise more than $1.5 million each year for local impact projects. Wild & Scenic is a program of the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL), a nonprofit and Waterkeeper Alliance member dedicated to protecting and restoring the Yuba River watershed.

Michael’s connection to environmental storytelling is rooted in a lifelong love for the natural world, shaped by his upbringing in the marshes and woodlands of Southern Wisconsin. After earning a degree in Marketing, he left Wisconsin for an entertainment career in Southern California—experience that now informs his approach to curating film experiences, cultivating partnerships, and supporting organizations in leveraging cinema as a tool for community engagement.

Since relocating to the Sierra Nevada, Michael has focused his work on bridging sectors, empowering mission-driven collaborators, and developing film programs that strengthen environmental stewardship and grassroots organizing. He holds certifications in Natural Building and Permaculture Design and is an active LIFT Economy alumnus, further grounding his commitment to regenerative and community-centered practices.

When he’s not supporting festival hosts, Michael can be found tending his six-acre property in Nevada City, CA, serving on the board of a local theater company, or exploring thrift shops for unexpected treasures.
