Matt Kettmann

Senior Writer for the Santa Barbara Independent

Matt Kettmann is the senior writer for the Santa Barbara Independent, where he started his journalism career after graduating UCSB in 1999, and a writer-at-large for Wine Enthusiast, where he's been covering the winemakers and vineyards and reviewing the wines  of the Central Coast since 2014. He's the author of Vines & Vision: The Winemakers of Santa Barbara County and pens a weekly newsletter for Independent.com called Full Belly Files, which has been named the best newspaper newsletter in California. He and his Bordeaux-born wife are the parents of two teenagers and a dog named Arrow. On top of his two jobs, Matt volunteers as an advisor for a number of nonprofits, including Notes for Notes, the SB Botanic Garden, the SB Culinary Experience, and White Buffalo Land Trust.
